Chiropractor
Growing up I had always known that I wanted to be a doctor and that I enjoyed helping people. It wasn't until an accident in high-school that I knew what kind of doctor that would be. I was a freshman and it was my first year of wrestling. It was the night before my first varsity match when I wrestled against a college wrestler in practice and was thrown into a solid metal door near the mat. As a result, I experienced a concussion and whiplash which resulted in me blacking out.

My pain was getting worse and the effect of my condition was taking a toll on my family. I was irritable, I slept during the day because I couldn't sleep through the night due to pain, I had to sleep on the floor because the bed hurt too much to sleep in. I was experiencing cognitive problems due to the drugs that I was taking and the brain injury. I missed six weeks of school straight with back pain, neck pain, and severe headaches. I visited countless traditional doctors who kept giving me pills which did not work and couldn't explain what was actually going on with me. My family physician was the one who referred me to a chiropractor.
I didn't know what to expect when I went to see the chiropractor. My doctor explained what was going on with my spine and why I was still in so much pain following the accident. He explained that the pills that I had been prescribed were masking the structural problems that resulted from the accident. He then explained how he could help me by correcting those structural problems.
After my first adjustment with my doctor, my mom said that it looked like I had just woken up from a 6 week sleep. I felt better and by the end of the week and a series of adjustments I was able to sleep through the night and returned to school the following week.
It was at that moment I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor. I have always enjoyed helping people and I am now able to do it naturally through chiropractic.
